Employment Development Department (EDD)
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE'RE DOING
As one of the largest state departments, the Employment Development Department (EDD) offers a wide variety of services to millions of Californians through the Unemployment Insurance, State Disability Insurance, workforce investment, and Labor Market Information programs at over one hundred service locations statewide. As the state's largest tax collection agency, the EDD also handles the audit and collection of payroll taxes and maintains employment records for more than 17 million California workers.
The EDD recognizes the importance of Governor Edmund Brown, Jr.’s Executive Order (EO) B-18-12 and is committed to meeting the directives of this EO wherever feasible. The EDD’s Administration Branch is responsible for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on the EDD’s efforts in reaching these EO goals and has been successful in implementing conservation measures at locations statewide.
